Welcome to BonusTomato, a feeble attempt at consolidating info I've been able to ascertain from people I've worked with in the cycling industry, newfound friends from the world wide web, and good old-fashioned catalogs. I don't pretend to have all the answers but we're working on it, and please don't hesitate to contact me at john[at]bonustomato[dot]com if you have info that conflicts with anything you see on here.
In the menus above, catalog scans are scans of Homegrown-related items from Schwinn's catalogs, model details breaks things down in a bit more detail for each model and year (can be handy if you're trying to identify a Homegrown), and Homegrown FAQ attempts to address the common questions concerning Homegrowns. The Project Colorado bike is a pretty cool one-off Schwinn put together to show their appreciation to the governor of Colorado, the Project Underground section refers to the thermoplastic models closely related to the Homegrown, and the forum is what it says. The links lead to some similar sites and others I thought might be of interest if you got this far, and about the tomato explains how we all got here.
Please note that this site works best on any browser that isn't Internet Exploder; some of the thumbnail images do not display properly or at all when using IE. I'd say Chrome is a pretty sweet browser if you don't have it already; otherwise please check out Firefox or Safari for faster, more secure internet browsers.
If you like what you see or find the information here of use, please consider donating. Hosting isn't free but is also not particularly expensive, but I would like to keep the site free of ads and depending on response could spring for some better forum software. Thanks in advance.
